Kaminarimon was founded by Tairano Kimimasa (a military commander in the Warring states period) in 942 in the Komagata area. It has been relocated to the current location since the Kamakura era. Fujin - Raijin is a statue in the gate to Kaminarimon which people pray to for protection from flood, wind damage, fire and world peace as well as bumper crops.
A huge lantern measuring 3.9 meters tall with a diameter of 3.3 meters and weighing 700 kilograms makes a popular and majestic photo spot for everyone.
