Uroko House and Uroko Museum
It is the symbol of Kobe’s foreigner’s residence because it is the first one opened to the public. It is a luxury rental house for foreign settlers, also known as “Scale House” due to the natural stones decorated on outside the wall look like scales of fish. Many details inside the house, collective antique furniture and a collection of many famous pieces of porcelains from Europe such as old Meissen are must see. A famous collection of drawings from Europe from Naturalism to present including Utrillo and Matisse, and Yu Horie, who is a representative of Kobe’s painter and received Yasui Award are always exhibited in “Scale House”. A great view of the city and port of Kobe can be seen from the third floor.
